Manny Pacquiao Next Fight: Dropping Weight After Chris Algieri Fight, Could Face Adrien Broner? [VIDEO]

Manny Pacquiao became arguably the most popular fighting in boxing thanks to a string of victories, mostly knockouts, against much larger opponents such as Miguel Cotto and Antonio Margarito. Since 2009, however, Pacquiao hasn't scored a knockout win.

After he fights Chris Algieri on November 22, he may move back down in weight in order to seek more exciting finishes.

"Manny hasn't really carried his power up with him to 147, but he is a very big puncher at 140," Pacquiao's trainer Freddie Roach said. "It's a much better weight for him, to be honest with you. He would hurt guys at 140."

While fighters typically go up in weight as they age, since making weight becomes more difficult, Pacquiao's risen up through so many weight classes his natural size makes it easier to do so.

"I could make either weight, 135 or 140, easily," Pacquiao said. "It would be easy for me. I am at 147 because that's where the action is in terms of the opponent, but it wouldn't be hard."

One potentially huge fight available to Pacquiao at 140 lbs. could be Adrien "The Problem" Broner, who called him out following a win over Carlos Molina on May 3. After Broner made his infamous "Can Man" comments, he issued a challenge to Pacquiao.

"This weight is the right weight, the last weight was the right weight, but there are some things that I didn't do. I'll fight anybody. I want to fight Manny Pacquiao."

The weight Broner was referring to was 140 lbs. He had skipped the light welterweight division and gone straight to welterweight. Broner won his first fight at 147 lbs., a title match against Paulie Malignaggi, but then suffered the first defeat of his career to Marcos "El Chino" Maidana.
