WWE Hall of Fame announcer Jim Ross is back at his blog on Jrsbarbq.com and he discussed last night's edition of Monday Night RAW as the WWE continues to build toward Night of Champions on Sept. 21 at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.

Backstage News On Batista Possibly Being Done With The WWE

Night of Champions will be headlined by John Cena vs. WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar in a rematch from SummerSlam and though Lesnar wasn't physically present in Anaheim for RAW, Ross enjoyed the video that the WWE showed with Lesnar and Heyman.

"The Lesnar-Heyman video was excellent and it confirmed even more my Ross Report take that Lesnar doesn't have to be on most RAW's to be an effective champion," Ross wrote. "If Lesnar just wrestles on PPV's or on most PPV's I will be just fine with that. This scenario forces all involved parties to accelerate the advancement of new main event stars and to, hopefully, try new talents in fresh spots."

Ross also added that he'd like to see Lesnar take on former "Paul Heyman guy" Cesaro, who defeated Rob Van Dam to become No. 1 contender for Sheamus' United States Championship.

"I'd still, as I have said on the Ross Report podcast, like to see Cesaro vs. Lesnar at some point down the road," Ross blogged. "Cesaro is seemingly in the never ending 'on deck circle.'"

While Ross liked what the WWE did with Lesnar, he wasn't a fan of Cena's role on RAW where he confronted the Hall of Fame forum of Hulk Hogan, Shawn Michaels and Ric Flair to say that he will beat Lesnar at Night of Champions.

Cena was also in action where he faced Bray Wyatt in a match that eventually was changed to a six-man tag match pitting Cena, The Big Show and Mark Henry against The Wyatt Family.

"I wasn't overwhelmed with how John Cena was booked on RAW as I would have been in favor of leaving him off TV another week or doing a vignette from Cena's home where he could express himself about "Do I have it in me to beat a healthy Brock Lesnar?" he wrote. "When the hero says he's not going to a major event to win his title back but to beat the champion's a-- it usually means that the champ IE Brock Lesnar retains as he should in this [rematch]."

Lastly, Ross said that Wyatt, who is expected to face Chris Jericho again at Night of Champions for the third consecutive pay-per-view, would be a good opponent for Lesnar as well.

"Bray Wyatt has been feeling main event special the past several weeks but not so much Monday night," he blogged. "Hopefully, he gets back on his roll next Monday. A potential Lesnar vs. Wyatt match down the road interests me if it could be presented in a compelling manner."
