The second day of the U.S. Open starts Tuesday after a rather uneventful first day in which all the top competition advanced.

No. 1 Novak Djokovic topped Diego Schwartzman of Argentina in straight sets 6-1, 6-2, 6-4 and No. 3 Stan Wawrinka edged out Jiri Vesely in straight sets 6-2, 7-6 (8-6), 7-6 (7-3).

No. 8 Andy Murray had the hardest challenge of the day as he went the distance with Robin Haase of the Netherlands before finally putting him away 6-3, 7-6 (8-6), 1-6, 7-5. Murray spoke after the match and said his body wasn't responding the way he wanted it to.

"When it starts to kind of go everywhere, you don't know exactly where it's going to creep up next," he said. "When you stretch one muscle, something else then cramps, too.”

No. 2 Roger Federer and No. 4 David Ferrer are in action today as the second day of the U.S. Open continues.
