Of all the possible contenders to Ronda Rousey's UFC women's bantamweight championship, new UFC signee Holly Holm presents possibly the most intriguing matchup, but is probably the furthest off Rousey's radar.

Rousey has made headlines over the past few days discussing a potential bout with former Strikeforce star Gina Carano and she has always been willing to face Cristiane "Cyborg" Justino, though neither of those fighters are signed to the UFC. Holm has yet to make her UFC debut as she is recovering from a broken hand suffered in her last fight, but the former 18-time world boxing champion may present Rousey's toughest test.

But despite not garnering as many headlines as other fighters, Holm is also taking a slow-and-steady approach in her pursuit of the bantamweight title.

"I think I want to get my feet wet first," Holm said when asked about a potential fight with Rousey. "If they told me that's the fight I have to take, I'd take it. I would rather take a fight before that. I think it would be silly to jump out with a broken arm and with my experience just say yes, then I would believe in myself. But I don't think that will be the case."

Holm has started throwing punches with the broken hand and said she hopes to resume training soon. She said she's talked about making her UFC debut in November, though nothing is set in stone yet.

"Nothing is set," she said. "Nothing is 100 percent. Partly we want to see how I can train first before we say yes to a specific date. I think [I'll get cleared to train] in the next month or so. It is hard to tell but I'm hoping anyway."
