The New York Yankees will open up a home series against the division rival Baltimore Orioles Friday night at 7:05 p.m. ET in the Bronx. The series is the first matchup between the two teams and features the top two AL East teams from 2012 who also faced each other in a five game series in the division round of the playoffs last season.

CC Sabathia (1-1) will get the start for New York. The Yankee ace is coming off of an impressive start against Detroit in which he went seven full innings and shut out the Tigers' offense to earn his first win of the season.

Baltimore will start Matt Gonzalez (1-0). Gonzalez currently has a 2.84 ERA and is coming off of a win against AL East rival Tampa Bay, a game in which he went 6.1 innings and allowed just two earned runs.

Despite multiple injuries and a disappointing opening series against arch-foe Boston, the Yankees hold a 4-4 record heading into Friday night's game and have seen production that they lacked during the first week of the season. Star second baseman Robinson Cano bounced out of a hitting slump by going 7 for 10 against the Indians in the two games against Cleveland.
