San Francisco guard Alex Boone remains a holdout from 49ers training camp, but despite the two sides' differences, the team has no plans on trading the disgruntled lineman.

According to Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea.com, the 49ers are drawing increased interest in Boone, but remain optimistic that the two sides will be able to hammer out a deal. Maiocco did make it a point to say that the 49ers could be persuaded to part with the top-tier guard if the price were right.

“Another source said the 49ers have told teams that they would be willing to part with Boone for a first- or second-round draft pick -- a price that is considered exorbitant for an offensive guard.”

Boone is seen as a top-12 guard in the NFL and the lack of veteran experience around the league makes him a hot commodity. The New York Giants and Tampa Bay Buccaneers are considered the two teams most likely to come away with Boone considering they lost veteran guards Chris Snee and Carl Nicks.

Boone is scheduled to make $2 million this season and roughly $30,000 of that has already been taken from him for missing four weeks of training camp. Boone signed with the 49ers expecting to be a backup, but his game developed immensely and he became one of the league’s best overnight.

The 49ers plan on starting Joe Looney if Boone doesn't report or the team decides to trade Boone away.
