MMA fighter War Machine, whose birth name is Jonathan Koppenhaver, was arrested in California on Friday in connection with beating his former girlfriend, porn star Christy Mack.

War Machine was arrested at an Extended Stay America hotel in Simi Valley. According to the L.A. Times, he is being held without bound on a fugitive from justice federal charged in the Ventura County Jail.

He is accused of assaulting Mack at her Las Vegas home on August 8. He reportedly went to her residence at 2 in the morning and brutally beat her, leaving Mack with 18 broken bones and a damaged liver.

MMA Junkie reports that the War Machine is charged with five felonies and one misdemeanor due to her actions the past week: battery with substantial bodily harm; battery by strangulation; battery resulting in substantial bodily harm constituting domestic violence; open or gross lewdness; assault with a deadly weapon; and coercion.

Last Friday, Bellator MMA President Scott Coker announced that his company was forging its ties with the fighter in light with the charges.

War Machine has been going around numerous MMA promotions the past few years after losing his only PPV bout in 2008. He fought three times for Bellator in 2013, losing his last match in October.

This is not the first time that the welterweight fighter has been involved in legal problems. He has spent time in jail, and was convicted in 2012 for attempt to commit battery with substantial bodily harm.
