Injured Indiana Pacers star Paul George on Friday said he's positive that he could regain his All-star form after the freakish injury he sustained in a US basketball scrimmage two weeks ago.

Speaking in his first presser since the injury, George was in good spirits. He said he is not putting any timetable on his return. "It's really a day-to-day process. You don't want to put a date on it or a time frame on it," he said as quoted by The Score.

George said he also expects his left leg to be stronger once he returns to the court. He said he is taking the injury in a positive way as the time off the court could give him the opportunity to watch and learn the game even better.

He also defended USA Basketball, saying that it should not be criticized for his injury.

"I think it's real unfair to get the criticism they're getting. It was a freak accident. Nobody's really been injured with USA Basketball...I think it just happened...They don't deserve any criticism for this. I plan to be a part of it in 2016 to try and bring home the gold."

George says he plans to play for Team USA in the Olympics two years from now. "I look forward to it, to having the opportunity to participate with Team USA in 2016. This injury has nothing to do with...playing for my country at all."

He also said he believes the Pacers will remain competitive next season and that David West would assume a bigger role for the team.
