The match scheduled for 12 p.m. ET will be held at Signal Iduna Park in Dortmund. Information on how to stream and watch the match globally can be found here. In a traditional sense, today's DFL SuperCup final is nothing more than a glorified friendly. Like the Community Shield and UEFA Super Cup, the result will have no bearing on the upcoming season. Just don't tell that to Bayern Munich. The club is treating today's encounter with its most heated rival as a true cup final.
"It's a final in front of a full house," goalkeeper Manuel Neuer said (via the club's official website). "It's what you look forward to as a player. We're up against our biggest rivals in Germany. We'll be taking the first competitive match very seriously and we're determined to win.
Pep Guardiola echoed that sentiment, adding: "We're playing for the first title of the season, so we'll try and win it."
Opening the 2014-15 campaign with a trophy would indeed help move past last year's late-season collapse.
