Orlando Scandrick Suspension: Dallas Cowboys Player Tested Positive For 'Molly'? [VIDEO]

Dallas Cowboys CB Orlando Scandrick will miss the first four games of the regular season after violating the NFL's substance abuse policy. While most jumped to the conclusion he'd been busted for performance enhancing drugs, reports are coming in that Scandrick actually tested positive for the party drug Molly.

Scandrick claims he was duped into taking the drug by an ex-girlfriend while vacationing in Mexico, and has issued a statement accepting responsibility for his actions.

"I would like to apologize to my children, my family, the Jones family, my coaches, my teammates and my fans," Scandrick said in the statement. "Failing a drug test is far out of my character, and although I never knowingly took a performance-enhancing drug/banned stimulant while on vacation in Mexico, I take full responsibility for what goes in my body and more importantly for the embarrassment of a failed drug test. It's my goal by issuing this statement to clear my name and more importantly to be judged by what happens to me in the future.

"I hope that my family, my Cowboys football family and all my fans can forgive me for this situation. I look forward to a successful 2014 season."

Scandrick is expected to lose about $1 million for this off-field transgression, and the Cowboys defense will suffer without him in those weeks. He is coming off the best season of his career, albeit for a terrible Dallas defense, in which he started a career-high 15 games.

Scandrick recorded 64 tackles, a career-high 13 pass defenses, and intercepted two passes while picking up two sacks. He was expected to start ahead of disappointing first-round draft pick Morris Claiborne, but this suspension will press the third-year DB back into starting duty.
