The Oakland Raiders' potential move to San Antonio gained some speed Thursday as billionaire Red McCombs expressed interest in aiding the Raiders in a move to Texas.

McCombs spoke to the San Antonio Express-News and said that the former San Antonio Mayor Henry Cisneros could play a big role in the getting the Raiders into Texas.

"[Raiders owner Mark Davis] was impressed by Henry -- pure and simple," McCombs told the newspaper. "I don't know whether it's a long way from a deal or whatever, but at least there was an opening there and we have a leader to take charge."

"For a guy to pick up and move from a place he's been as long as he's been there, that takes a lot," McCombs said. "It may not happen. But you got to be in the game, you've got to give yourself a chance, and that's what Henry's doing.”

McCombs also said he would be willing to buy a portion of the team "if that's what it would take to get them” to come to San Antonio. McCombs is no stranger to the NFL as he was the owner of the Minnesota Vikings from 1998 until 2004.

The Raiders find themselves in this situation because they need a new stadium and they need it sooner rather than later. The Raiders have threatened to leave the city of Oakland before and this time around they have hinted at San Antonio, Los Angeles and Portland, Oregon being places they would consider relocating to.

The Raiders lease at O.co Coliseum expires at the end of the season so expect a resolution to this conflict by the start of the 2015 season.
