It’s no secret that Colorado Rockies All-Star shortstop Troy Tulowitzki wants to explore all of his options when it comes to winning, but for the first time he went public with his frustrations.
Red Sox Wouldn't Trade Lester to Yankees
Tulowitzki was taking batting practice as he rehabs a hip injury, that has had him sidelined for three weeks, when he voiced his opinion to the Denver Post.
"I think that's why I came out numerous times and said I want to win," said Tulowitzki, who holds a large lead in the NL batting race with a .340 average. "It doesn't mean I want out of here. It means I'm sick and tired of losing.”
"Something needs to change. Hopefully that comes fairly quickly," Tulowitzki said, according to the Post. "You can't force it. But at the same time, we're all frustrated with this year -- especially me.”
The 29-year-old has had his fair share of injury struggles and hasn't played since injuring the hip on a ground ball in July. Tulowitzki also has leg issues that stem from when he tore his left quadriceps in 2008.
"It's very hard," Tulowitzki said. "It'd be easy to just pack up things and throw these games away and say, 'Hey, we're out of this thing.' And move on to next year. But in that clubhouse, we need to finish strong and end on a good note. Some guys need to prove themselves for next year. And some guys need to get more experience to help out the team.”
Tulowitzki is rumored to want out of Colorado and it is public knowledge that he would love to play for the New York Yankees. Tulowitzki idolizes Yankee legend Derek Jeter and said it would be like a dream come true if he were to be the man to replace Jeter when he hangs up his cleats for good.
The Yankees have had interest in Tulowitzki, but would not think to pursue him until the offseason due to the structure of his contract.
