Philadelphia Phillies left-hander Cliff Lee landed back on the disabled list and he believes his season could be over after straining his left elbow in the team’s 10-4 win against the Nationals Thursday.
LA Dodgers GM Says Matt Kemp, Top Prospects Were Never For Sale
Phillies manager Ryne Sandberg said Lee will see the team doctor on Saturday to be reevaluated, but Lee said after the game that he believes that his 2014 campaign is over.
"At this point, that's probably the case," Lee told reporters
"The last inning, it never fully went away and it came on a little stronger the next six or seven pitches I threw," he said. "It was there every throw and I just felt like if I kept throwing, something was going to snap, and I just wanted to make sure that didn't happen.”
This was only Lee’s third start after returning from his last disabled list stint for a strained flexor pronator.
Lee’s trade value takes a major hit if his elbow injury is serious as many teams were already scared away from the lefty due to the uncertainty in the elbow.
And Cliff Lee takes himself out of the game after he gestures toward his elbow. Which is why teams were scared off: concerns re: elbow.
