World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) held WrestleMania 29 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, and a record 80,676 fans showed up to witness John Cena stun The Rock and win the WWE Championship.

Cena fell to The Rock at the previous WrestleMania, and at many times during Sunday night's thrilling match, Cena's chances of victory seemed minute. He was able to survive "The Rock Bottom," The Rock's signature finishing move, four times. He also kicked out of "The People's Elbow," to the shock of all 80, 676 people, and chagrin of the millions and millions of Rock's fans.

Following Cena's win, he and The Rock engaged in several shows of mutual respect. After winning the match and hearing his music blare, Cena pointed toward his opponent and asked the fans to give him a round of applause as The Rock's music played. They shook hands in the center of the ring and Cena walked away, leaving The Rock to bask in adulation.

After The Rock exited the ring as well, Cena was waiting for him at the top of the ramp leading backstage in a salute position. The Rock, who is the star of G.I. Joe: Retaliation, saluted Cena back and then trudged backstage while Cena continued to raise his belt above his head in triumph.

The historic night also saw The Undertaker continue his complete dominance of WrestleMania. The Undertaker defeated villain CM Punk, after weeks of Punk and his manager Paul Heyman taunting him with the urn of 'Taker's deceased former manager Paul Bearer. The Undertaker's WrestleMania record is now a jaw-dropping 21-0.

WWE legend Triple H also preserved his job with a victory over former Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight champ Brock Lesnar. Had Triple H lost, he would have been fired due to stipulations set by Heyman. In the no holds barred matchup, Triple H landed his finishing move, The Pedigree, on top of steel steps to defeat Lesnar.

In the rest of the matches, Alberto Del Rio retained his championship against Jack Swagger, The Shield defeated the trip of The Big Show, Randy Orton, and Sheamus, Mark Henry beat Ryback, Team Hell No knocked off Dolph Ziggler and Big E. Langston, and Chris "Y2J" Jericho fell to Fandango in the latter's debut.

Diddy also had a four-song performance in the middle of the show, and a Superstorm Sandy video narrated by New Jersey governor Chris Christie preceded the action.

Christie said, "On behalf of the great state of New Jersey, I want to thank all of the fans that came from around the world to beautiful MetLife Stadium for WrestleMania 29," he said. "WWE put on a show like no other and electrified the capacity crowd."
