The incredible roster of free agent wide receivers in 2015 lost a huge member as the Green Bay Packers and Jordy Nelson have agreed on an extension that will keep the receiver on the frozen tundra for another four seasons.
According to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter, Nelson’s deal with Green Bay is for four-year, $39 million including an $11.5 million signing bonus. Nelson is coming off a career year as he set career marks with his 85 catches for 1,314 yards and he also snagged eight touchdowns in the process.
The 29-year-old Nelson was set to join an all-star cast of receivers in free agency after this season, but the Packers only have to worry about Randall Cobb. Other receivers set to be free agents in 2015 include: Dez Bryant, Michael Crabtree, Torrey Smith, Wes Welker, Cecil Shorts and Hakeem Nicks.
Nelson has spent his entire six-year career with the Packers and has managed 4,590 receiving yards and 36 touchdown in his time with the team. Nelson was set to make $3.5 million is the final year of his previous contract, but the Packers faith in Nelson pays him like a top six receiver.
