If Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert and LeBron James can make up after Gilbert's scathing public letter when James left Cleveland for the Miami Heat, then almost any NBA reconciliation is possible.

Dwight Howard says the Houston Rockets are unfazed by Chandler Parsons' departure to the Dallas Mavericks

Even though the Houston Rockets seem to be in the process of testing that theory with former swingman Chandler Parsons.

ESPN.com is reporting that James Harden is the latest member of the Rockets to take a shot - either intentionally or unintentionally at former teammate Chandler Parsons, joining center Dwight Howard and general manager Daryl Morey.

Parsons left for the Dallas Mavericks when the Rockets refused to match the Mavericks' three-year, $46 million offer sheet.

Rockets GM Daryl Morey says the team is better off without Chandler Parsons

Speaking at a charity event in the Philippines, Harden told the Philippines Star, "Dwight and I are the cornerstones of the Rockets. The rest of the guys are role players or pieces that complete our team. We've lost some pieces and added some pieces.

"I think we'll be fine for next season."

Parsons shared his thoughts on Harden's comments on "Jay Mohr Sports" on Fox Sports Radio, and didn't sound too pleased.

"That's a pretty ridiculous statement if he meant that," Parsons said. "That's part of the reason I wanted to go to Dallas, because I'm ready for that next step. I'm ready for a bigger role, and I'm ready for more leadership.

"If anybody should understand that, it's James, because he was in the same situation in Oklahoma City and then he got his chance to come to Houston and shine. I'm not real sure what that means."

ESPN went on to report that Parson's numbers last season in Houston (16.6 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists) were similar to those of Harden during his last season with the Thunder (16.8 points, 4.1 rebounds, 3.7 assists).

Earlier, Howard was asked about the effect of losing Parsons and told The Associated Press, "It won't affect us at all. We have myself and James (Harden). We have the best center and the best two guard in the game on the same team. It's on us."

That came shortly after Morey explained the Rockets' rationale for not signing Parsons, especially after they had made it clear they intended to do so if free agent Chris Bosh were to sign.

"We feel strongly that turning down Chandler's option gives us a better chance to win a championship than not turning it down," Morey said on Sports Talk 790 AM in Houston the day after Parsons officially became a Maverick. "It really comes down to the question of, Harden, Howard, Chandler, what chance does that (core have a chance of winning a championship?"

Parsons said he was offended by Morey's remarks as well.
