The Miami Heat reunion is on the verge of growing again in Cleveland.

LeBron James prefers Kevin Love to Andrew Wiggins as his teammate in Cleveland

Boston Globe reporter Gerry Washburn tweeted Wednesday night that Ray Allen is close to rejoining former Heat teammate LeBron James, and Mike Miller and James Jones for that matter, by signing with the Cavaliers.

Allen, who turned 39 years old on Sunday, averaged a career-low 9.6 points per game with the Heat last season on 44.2 percent shooting. But he is only two years removed from saving Miami from a NBA Finals loss to the San Antonio Spurs during the 2012-13 season with his game-tying 3-pointer in Game 6 that allowed the Heat to win in overtime and subsequently win Game 7 in Miami to complete back-to-back titles.

According to ESPN, Miller, who was also on that 2012-13 championship Heat team before playing last season with the Memphis Grizzlies, said last week that he was trying to recruit Allen to join the Cavaliers because Allen's postseason experience would be invaluable to the likes of Kyrie Irving and, perhaps, Andrew Wiggins in any type of playoff run next season.

Chris Bosh happy LeBron James left the Miami Heat?

SI.com took a report from Rotoworld in saying that Allen is scheduled to undergo MRIs on his knees today to determine how healthy his knees are. The benefit of playing with the Cavaliers is that the team appears in a position to keep him away from heavy minutes during the regular season to allow him to present his leadership skills in the postseason.

The 10-time all-star has three NBA championship rings, having been a key part of the Boston Celtics run to the title in 2007-08.
