With the dust settling over Sunday night's Battleground event, the WWE now shifts gears toward SummerSlam on Aug. 17 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, and the card is starting to take shape.

CM Punk Says He's 'Never Ever' Returning To The WWE

It was revealed by Paul Heyman on Monday Night RAW that Brock Lesnar is back in the company and looking to challenge John Cena for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in the main event at SummerSlam, confirming the long-rumored main event.

Lesnar appeared on the show as a "Plan C" for The Authority and shook Triple H's hand to confirm that he will battle Cena at the biggest show of the summer after defeating The Undertaker and ending The Streak at WrestleMania XXX in April.

The Undertaker Unlikely For WrestleMania 31

The plans for this match have been rumored for a long time as a DVD cover depicting Lesnar and Cena on it was leaked by Amazon and a video surfaced online about Lesnar and Cena clashing at the second biggest show of the year.

It has been rumored for a long time that the WWE had four huge matches in place for SummerSlam including Cena vs. Lesnar, Roman Reigns vs. Randy Orton, Chris Jericho vs. Bray Wyatt and Stephanie McMahon vs. Brie Bella.

Reigns attacked Orton on RAW, likely as the set up to their match, and Reigns will likely face Triple H at Night of Champions on Sept. 21 in Nashville after taking on Orton at SummerSlam.

Jericho defeated Wyatt at Battleground and had him on the Highlight Reel Monday night as the two are expected to continue their feud into SummerSlam.

Bella and McMahon have been at each other's throats over McMahon's treatment of injured WWE Superstar and Bella's husband Daniel Bryan, and after the incident on RAW that saw McMahon slap Bella then end up in jail, the two will clash at the biggest show of the summer.

On top of these four matches, there are rumors that there may be a title unification match between WWE Intercontinental Champion The Miz and United States Champion Sheamus. The two have been feuding and Miz won a battle royal at Battleground to win the vacant IC title, setting up the possibility of a title-for-title match at SummerSlam.

Sheamus recently teased unifying the belts and the two were set to feud for the next few weeks and possibly months, which means that the titles could be unified sometime in the near future.

WWE SummerSlam airs live Sunday night Aug. 17 from the Staples Center in Los Angeles in what will be the biggest WWE show of the summer.
