After much introspection, Florida Gators football coach Will Muschamp discovered how to get his program back on track and take the heat off himself and his coaching staff.

Florida coach Will Muschamp confident Gators can win the SEC title

Win games.

Yahoo! Sports reported that Muschamp participated in the SEC media days event on Monday and had some bold statements for a coach on the hot seat after leading his team last season to its worst record since 1979.

"There will be a lot of chatter about hot-seat business," he said, according to Yahoo! Sports. "That's part of it. The way you combat that is having a winning football team and winning football games, which is what we're going to do."

Florida fans clamor for coach Will Muschamp's ouster after loss to Georgia Southern

Muschamp went on to call his 2014 Gators group "the most complete team I've had at Florida." That would be a stunning turnaround in itself after the Gators lost the last seven games of the 2013 season that included a 22-16 loss to Football Championship Subdivision member Georgia Southern.

Yahoo! Sports added that Muschamp's 22-16 record in three seasons at Florida is the worst three-year period since the Gators went 20-16 from 1987-89 and had just come off major probation sanctions.

For the Gators to fulfill Muschamp's bold talk, they have to find some semblance of an offense.

His defenses have averaged a No. 4 national ranking, but the average ranking of the offense is 112th. Of Muschamp's 38 games as coach, the Gators have scored 20 or fewer points 18 times - including the last seven games of the 2013 season.

He fired his offensive coordinator (Brent Pease) and offensive line coach (Tim Davis), hiring Duke's Kurt Roper and USC's Mike Summers, respectively, to revamp the offense.

If they can't revive the offense, then at least Muschamp knows where he'll stand at the end of the season - on the outside looking in.

As a result, Muschamp isn't hurting himself any with his bold, if obvious, talk because the Gators need a dramatic improvement for him to stay.
