"The tone of the game, the atmosphere of the game when he's on the mound, we never really have a question that we're going to win that game," fellow pitcher Trevor Bauer told MLB.com. "He's going to go out there and shut the other guys down. That's what you look at out of an All-Star, someone who can take over a game."
Noesi has had an up-and-down season, but the White Sox have confidence in his ability to bounce back from adversity.
"He's a tough kid. He's confident and he knows what he can do," White Sox manager Robin Ventura said via MLB.com. "Sometimes you get an opportunity and you run with it, and I think that's what he's done."
Noesi wil try to shut down a Cleveland lineup that is flanked by outfielder Michael Brantley. Brantley is tied for fouth in the AL with a .327 batting average and is in sole possession of fourth place with 61 runs and a .389 on-base percentage. He leads the Indians in homers (14-tied) and RBI (62).
Chicago counters with a potent outfielder of their own in Jose Abreu, who leads the AL with 28 homers and a .629 slugging percentage. Abreu also ranks third in the AL in RBI (71), total bases (179) and OPS (.966) and paces the White Sox in batting average (.287) and RBI (71).
