Donald Sterling once deliberately seemed to attempt to wreck Los Angeles Clippers star guard Chris Paul's marriage by wondering aloud "why is this guy married" with "all the beautiful women in L.A."

ESPN reported Sterling made his comments during a 2012 party where Paul's wife was in the attendance, prompting the All-Star guard to answer the then Clippers' owner with the retort "because I love my wife."

Donald Sterling banned from NBA

The incident took place during a party Sterling threw to celebrate the Clippers making the Western Conference playoffs. The 80-year-old Sterling was recently banned for life from the NBA and fined $2.5 million by new commissioner Adam Silver after audio of him telling girlfriend V. Stiviano "not to bring black people to my games," including L.A. legend Magic Johnson, was made public.

Sterling was also once sued by NBA Hall of Famer and longtime Clippers' GM Elgin Baylor for race and age discrimination. Baylor recently told reporters "justice has been served" with Sterling's ouster.

LeBron James avoided L.A. Clippers because of Donald Sterling?

Since being banned by the league, Sterling's estranged wife Shelly has moved to sell the team to tech guru Steve Ballmer for $2 billion. Sterling is now legally fighting the sale of the team and the two are set to square off in a probate court hearing on the matter early next month.

Shelly Sterling also recently sought an emergency order of protection against her husband, alleging he had been threatening and attempting to intimidate her.
