Andre Johnson is not a fan of the Houston Texans' fourth-round draft pick Tom Savage out of Pittsburgh. Or maybe Johnson was just a bigger fan of Johnny Manziel or Blake Bortles.

Will Andre Johnson sit out in 2014?

NFL.com reported that Johnson, the 12th-year All-Pro Texans wide receiver, will not attend the team's minicamp this week, on the advice of his uncle, Andre Melton.

"Right now, that's all that he can do,'" Melton said of Johnson skipping work this week, according to NFL.com. "We've done what we can do, so we're just sitting there waiting."

The problem, the article states, is the lack of a proven quarterback. The Texans took defensive end Jadeveon Clowney with the first pick in the NFL Draft in May and waited until day three of the draft to pull the trigger on a quarterback.

Andre Johnson trying to force a trade

The situation there is overriding the relationship first-year Texans head coach Bill O'Brien has crafted with the veteran wideout.

Johnson, who already could be fined for missing a mandatory minicamp, could incur further costs if he decides to sit out during training camp, which begins in July.

"We'll evaluate it in a month or so and see what's going on," Melton said - an odd statement considering the fact that the Texans aren't about to bring in another quarterback at this stage just to appease Johnson.

The Texans appear unwilling to trade Johnson, so the stalemate continues. The team does appear to be excited about Savage's progress.

"For a rookie quarterback, it's very difficult. ... And we're not holding much back from him, either," Houston quarterbacks coach George Godsey told the Houston Chronicle, following the ninth day of OTAs at NRG Stadium. "I'm going to coach him hard. Coach (Bill) O'Brien is going to coach him hard. The rest of the coaches are, too. The thing that I like about Tom is that he just looks me back in the eye and he wants to give it more reps and he wants to learn."
