When Diego Maradona speaks, you listen. Typically, it's because the iconic footballer is never short of outlandish things to say. But when asked about his native Argentina's chances in Brazil, Maradona had some poignant observations.

"I see [Lionel] Messi doing well. I think it was good for him to have a proper rest because he had gone four years hardly missing a match," Maradona said in Buenos Aires newspaper Ole (via FIFA). "I'd really like to speak to him now, and tell him to take things easy, not to listen to the idiots. There are a lot of them, unfortunately."

When asked about the state of his national team, he added: "We are looking good in attack, but I am a bit worried about the defense to be honest. But the team has more experience now [than in 2010], and that is very important in the World Cup."

Will Argentina be able to utilize that experience against Bosnia-Herzegovina, the debutants of the 2014 World Cup? Tell us @SportsWN
