Miami Heat superstar LeBron James believes his team can pull off what no NBA team has done in league history, which is to come back from 3-1 Finals deficit and win the championship.

"Why not us? History is broken all the time," James said Saturday as the Heat practiced for Game 5 of the Finals against the San Antonio Spurs. As quoted by ESPN.com: "And obviously we know we're against the greatest of odds. No team has ever come back from a 3-1 deficit in the Finals, but there was a point where no team came back from a 2-0. There was a point where no team came back from a 3-0. There was a point where no team came back from a 3-1 or 3-0 deficit in the ALCS, and then the Red Sox did it against the Yankees.

"So history is made to be broken, and why not me be a part of it? That would be great. That would be a great storyline, right? But we'll see what happens. I've got to live in the moment, though, before we even get to that point."

An ardent student of the game, James has been the most consistent player for the Heat this series with 27.5 points a game. But he knows a loss in these Finals could put another stain on his legacy, aside from dropping him to 2-3 in Finals appearances.

Still, the two-time champion needs more help from his comrades if the Heat wants another trip back home. In Game 4, James scored 28 but the four Heat starters combined for the same output. All-Star guard Dwyane Wade scored just 10 points.

James says he'll never lose faith in his teammates, adding: "The guys that are struggling, I believe they're going to have a big game tomorrow. The guys that haven't been in a rhythm, I feel like tomorrow's going to be the best rhythm they've been in."
