Kobe Bryant will soon be taking time out from his rehab schedule to promote his new documentary Kobe Bryant's Muse.

According to the L.A. Times, Bryant will be on hand this summer for the Television Critics Association press tour. Muse is being billed as a "feature-length documentary" about the NBA star's life and inspirations and is scheduled to air on Showtime later this fall.

Kobe Bryant cleared for workouts

Showtime executive VP and GM Stephen Espinoza added "the film will offer viewers a deep character portrait of a professional athlete who has transcended his sport to be a culture-moving personality."

Recovering from a torn Achilles, the 35-year-old Bryant played in just six games last season. To say the Lakers felt the effects would be an understatement, as the team struggled to a franchise worst 27-55 finish. Bryant has already implored fans to "flush" the memory of it with the assurance that this season will be "epic."

Kobe wants input on Lakers coaching hire

After parting ways with coach Mike D'Antoni, the Lakers are still in the process of hiring a new coach and this week interviewed former star player Byron Scott for a second time. Over the course of the season, Bryant was one of several Laker's players to openly criticize D'Antoni's style and player rotations.

In all, Bryant has played 18 NBA seasons, all with the Lakers. The 16-time All-Star and former league MVP's best statistical season came in 2005-06 when he averaged 35 points, five rebounds, five assists and two steals.
