Today at 4:05 p.m. ET, the Miami Marlins (32-28) and Chicago Cubs (23-34) clash at Wrigley Field for the first contest of a three-game set live from Chicago. The game can be live streamed here. Miami fans can hear all of the action on 940 WINZ while Chicago fans can do the same on WGN 720.
Miami has won four straight after taking all four meetings with the Tampa Bay Rays in the home-and-home Citrus Series as it continues its seven-game road trip while Chicago closes out its six game homestand this series after sweeping the New York Mets.
The Marlins enter play tied for first place in the NL East while the Cubs are in dead last in the NL Central.
Nathan Eovaldi (4-2, 3.24 ERA) takes the ball for the Marlins while the Cubs counter with Jason Hammel, who is 6-3 with a 2.78 ERA.
Eovaldi is coming off of a victory over the Atlanta Braves Sunday where he gave up two runs on six hits in eight innings. He'll be opposed by Hammel, who has given the Cubs ample chances to win whenever he has started. Hammel is second in the National League with a .187 average allowed
"I'm not surprised at the success he's having. He's got a great angle, good velocity, he mixes his pitches and he's got tremendous poise on the hill," Cubs manager Rick Renteria said via MLB.com.
Marlins outfielder Giancarlo Stanton is hitting .314 and leads the National League with 17 homers and 53 RBIs. Stanton is also first in the NL in total bases (137), fifth in on-base percentage (.407), second in slugging (.614), and third in OPS (1.021), walks (35) and runs scored (44).
Miami outfielder Christian Yelich is first in the MLB with five triples this season.
Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo is hitting .274 with 11 homers and 29 RBIs and he ranks fourth in the NL with 40 walks.
The Cubs and Marlins kick off their three-game set this afternoon at Wrigley Field in Chicago.
