Already facing a possible year-long suspension for violating the league's substance abuse policy, NFL leading receiver Josh Gordon was ticketed this week for speeding in a vehicle where police also found marijuana.

According to ESPN, Gordon and the Cleveland Browns were informed last month that he had tested positive for marijuana during a procedure administered by the league officials several months ago. The 23-year-old Gordon was also suspended two games at the start of last season for a similar offense.

The website adds Gordon was ticketed on May 25 for driving his Mercedes Benz 74 mph in a 60 mph zone, where police also later found roughly 200 grams of marijuana stashed away in a bag concealed in the car. Though the passenger traveling with Gordon told police the marijuana was his, the timing couldn't be much worse for Gordon, who led the league last season with 1,646 receiving yards.

"We are gathering information regarding the situation," said Browns GM Ray Farmer. "We will not have any further comment until the appropriate time."

Meanwhile, Gordon has continued working out with the Browns reporting for the team's mini-camp earlier this month. Gordon was also cited last year for a pair of traffic offenses for which he pleaded no contest and was required to pay $296 in court costs.

Overall, Gordon recorded 87 catches last year, including nine touchdowns.
