Recently fired Cleveland Cavaliers coach Mike Brown said the team certainly has hopes of bringing four-time league MVP LeBron James back to his hometown as soon as this summer when he can become a free agent.

"I think they will definitely try to make a run at hm," Brown said. "With him being from this area, it makes more sense for Cleveland to go after him than any other team besides the Miami Heat."

LeBron James returning to Heat?

The 29-year-old James played the first seven seasons of his career in Cleveland, leading the Cavs to the finals in 2007 and averaging better than 25 points, seven assists and seven rebounds over tenure there.

Still, James' breakup with Cleveland was not a good one. The All-Star forward left for the Miami Heat after the 2010 season, making his announcement via an ESPN televised press conference that drew the angst of Cavs owner Dan Gilbert to the point he derisively dismissed him as a "self-titled King."

LeBron to launch acting career

Gilbert also went on to brand James' decision to leave for South Beach as a "shocking act of disloyalty," adding "this heartless and callous action can only serve as the antidote to the so-called so-called curse on Cleveland.

With the Heat in the Eastern Conference finals and one win away from the chance to play for their third straight title, James has said little about his summer plans in recent weeks, though several teammates recently hinted that win or lose they expect him to return to the Heat next season and beyond.
