Soon-to-be free-agent forward Carmelo Anthony celebrated his 30th birthday this week by showing off a brand new black Corvette bought by his wife La La.

Anthony mugged for photo after photo in front of his shiny new toy as an equally beaming La La Anthony gleefully looked on, according to Syracuse.com.

These days, it's good to be the New York Knicks star forward, who can officially become a free agent on July 1 and, in addition to the Knicks, is expected to be strongly pursued by at least four different teams.

Melo won't wait on Knicks

The Bulls, Rockets, Mavs and Lakers have all previously expressed varying levels of interest in the former Syracuse star, second in league in scoring this year to MVP Kevin Durant.

Newly minted Knicks president of basketball operations Phil Jackson is also on record in asserting he would love to have Anthony back to be the center of the team's triangle offense. While the Knicks have yet to hire a coach since firing Mike Woodson at the end of the year, Jackson has made the brand of basketball the team will play well known.

Carmelo leaving Knicks?

For what it's worth, Anthony is rumored to favor New York native Mark Jackson as the next coach, provided he decides to remain in a Knick uniform. After leading the Golden State Warriors to a 51-win season and back-to back playoff berths for the the first time in nearly two decades, Jackson was unceremoniously dumped by the team after the first round of the playoffs.
