The Cleveland Cavaliers have informed Kansas star Andrew Wiggins they are leaning toward selecting him with the top pick in next month's NBA draft, according to Fansided.com.

For the second straight season and the third time in four years, the Cavs bagged the No. 1 pick in the draft, and immediately speculation swirled the team would make its selection from a trio of Wiggins, Kansas teammate Joel Embiid and Duke's Jabari Parker.

Andrew Wiggins' stock on rise?

Wiggins is widely considered to be the best athlete from among the group as well as thought to have the greatest upside. Though he, Parker and Embiid all skipped the recent NBA combine, the son of former NBA guard Mitchell Wiggins was recently photographed displaying his 44-inch vertical leap.

Still just 19, Wiggins averaged 17 points, five rebounds and two assists in his one season in Lawrence, leading the Jayhawks to a 25-win season.

Wiggins recently told reporters he feels he merits the top selection, adding "I think I had a good year. As for the hype, I think I lived up to my own expectations, my own goals. The hype that was portrayed by the media, no, don't think anyone can live up to that."

Besides the aforementioned trio, this year's draft is loaded with other freshmen stars Aaron Gordon, Julius Randle and Tyler Ennis, moving some scouts to project it as one of the deepest classes in recent memory.
