Tonight at 8:00 p.m. ET, the Montreal Canadiens and New York Rangers faceoff for Game 4 of their best-of-seven Eastern Conference Finals series live from the Madison Square Garden in New York City as part of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The game can be live streamed for free here. Montreal fans can hear all of the action on TSN 690 while New York fans can do the same on 98.7 ESPN.
Montreal looks to win its second straight road game to even up the series before heading back home while New York hopes to take advantage of home ice and take a 3-1 lead with it back to Canada for Game 5.
The Rangers won Games 1 and 2 in Montreal by 7-2 and 3-1 scores before the Canadiens roared back with a 3-2 overtime victory in Game 3 in New York.
The Canadiens blew a 2-1 lead when Rangers forward Chris Kreider scored with 28.1 seconds remaining in the third period to tie the game, but it took just 72 seconds for Alex Galchenyuk to score his second-career playoff game in overtime to win the game for the Habs.
It appeared as though it bounced off Galchenyuk's throat and in, but even the goal-scorer couldn't say how it beat goaltender Henrik Lundqvist.
"To be honest, I have no idea what happened," Galchenyuk told the Daily News afterwards.
Much has been made about luck in this series, and Rangers forward Carl Hagelin said this time it was the Habs getting the lucky bounces.
"We played solid throughout 60 minutes, it's just they worked hard and got a couple of lucky bounces," said Hagelin, who scored a goal, in Game 3, according to the Daily News. "Last game they might have been the better team but we won, and tonight we were the better team and they won. It's just one of those things."
Martin St. Louis has paced the Rangers this postseason with 12 points off of five goals and seven assists while Mats Zuccarello (four tallies, seven helpers) and Derek Stepan (three goals, eight assists) each have 11 points. Stepan was absent for part of Game 1 after a hit to the head by Brandon Prust, but he eventually returned.
P.K. Subban, who said Lundqvist got some lucky bounces in Games 1 and 2, leads the Canadiens and all NHL defenseman in these playoffs with 12 points off of four goals and eight assists while Lars Eller has five markers and six helpers for 11 points and Brendan Gallagher has found the back of the net four times and added six assists for 10 points.
After a stellar effort in his first-career playoff win, Dustin Tokarski will man the crease for Montreal again. Tokarski is 1-1 with a 2.56 goals-against average and a .925 save percentage this series after taking over for the injured Carey Price (lower-body) who had a series-ending injury in Game 1 after he was run into by Kreider.
Lundqvist will be between the pipes for New York, and he is 10-7 this postseason with a 1.99 GAA and a .931 save percentage.
The Canadiens look to tie the series up while the Rangers hope to take a 3-1 series lead when the puck drops at Madison Square Garden tonight in New York City for Eastern Conference Finals Game 4 as part of the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs.
