Chauncey Billups is rumored to be quickly moving up the Cleveland Cavaliers board of coaching candidates, according to Cleveland.com.

With the Cavs' having secured the No. 1 overall pick in next month's NBA draft for the third time in four years, management has turned its attention to the open head coaching position in hopes of having someone in place prior to deciding between a list top-tier draftees that includes Duke's Jabari Parker and Kansas teammates Andrew Wiggins and Joel Embiid.

Chauncey Billups to retire?

"Cavs owner Dan Gilbert loves Billups, and with Jason Kidd having success in his first season as a coach after retiring as a point guard, there could be some consideration for Billups," Cleveland.com reports of the veteran guard, who has also previously expressed an interest in perhaps being a general manager.

"Of course I have been thinking about my future the last five years," Billups, who spent last season on the Pistons roster, recently told reporters. "I think a lot of people think that would be the natural progression because of what I do on the court."

The 38-year-old Billups has played 17 NBA seasons, winning a title with the Piston in 2003-04. Over that time, he's been named to five All-Star teams and developed the nickname Mr. Big Shot for his clutch and heady play. Billups averaged 17 points, six assists, four rebounds and a steal during his lone title winning season.
