Phil Jackson pronounces himself "open" to meeting with native son Mark Jackson about the New York Knicks coaching opening, according to ESPN.

The website adds that though Phil prefers the idea of hiring someone he has previously worked with or coached, the last two seasons Mark Jackson was able to put together as coach of the Golden State Warriors, have left him intrigued.

Despite those heroics, Jackson was fired by the Warriors at the end of the season in what some have described as the culmination of an ongoing feud with management.

"There are some great jobs available," Mark Jackson told ESPN. "I am excited about the next chapter in my life and what lies ahead. We'll see what happens."

After being spurned by Steve Kerr, who instead landed in Mark's old spot in Golden State, the newly installed face of the Knicks is also rumored to be considering the likes of Derek Fisher, Kurt Rambis, Luke Walton and Tyronn Lue.

As he awaits the Zen Master's call, Mark Jackson has resumed his old duties with ESPN as an NBA game analyst. Jackson reportedly signed a multi-year deal with the network, though it is believed to have an out-clause in it should the Knicks or any other team soon come calling.

The 49-year-old Jackson also spent five seasons playing for the Knicks, including 1987-88 when he was named Rookie of the Year on the strength of averaging 14 points, 11 assists and five rebounds.
