What: NBA Scouting Combine
When: Friday, May 16th 1P.M.
Live Stream: ESPN
College basketball's best are out to show off their skills in the second day of the NBA combine in Chicago. Some of the draft’s best like Jabari Parker and Andrew Wiggins will not be in attendance, but it's a chance for us to meet the best of the rest.
The combine doesn’t always attracted the top five talent, but looking back neither did the NFL draft to an extent. NBA’s director of scouting, Ryan Blake, believes skipping the combine is the new thing.
“Skipping it altogether, that is a new thing,” Blake said. “It is following the leader. But it is a unique draft, maybe. Agents are enthralled with having control and working it. You’re looking at top, very good players, that are going to be the top players in this draft who won’t be there. So, it’s not crazy, crazy.
The domino effect of prospects dropping out of the combine is an opportunity for the under the radar names to make their move in the draft and show the teams about their passion. The combine can make or break some draft prospects but in the grand scheme, if you work out at the NBA combine scouts will not forget.
“It’s basketball, that’s the reason we’re all here. We love the game. Why not play?”
