World-top ranked golfer Tiger Wood's ex-wife graduated with a B.A. at the head of her class on Saturday, and during her "Outstanding Graduating Senior" speech Elin Nordegren reflected on how her educational pursuits offered her "a place of peace in the wide storm of my personal life."

Woods and Nordregren divorced in 2010 at the height of a cheating scandal during which at least a dozen women emerged to claim they had engaged in affairs with the 14-time majors champion. Since then, Nordegren has rarely publicly spoken about the ordeal before delivering her speech to nearly 300 students at Rollins College.

Tiger Woods targeting British Open return?

According to the Orlando Sentinel, the 34-year Nordegren never mentioned her ex by name, but at one point drew hearty laughter from the crowd when she recalled the experience of having taken a Communications and Media class in 2010.

"It was right after I was unexpectedly thrust into the media limelight," she said of the scandal and the accident Woods eventually had in his Cadillac Escalade outside their Isleworth estate in November of 2009 that seemed to expedite the public airing of all their troubles. "I probably should have taken more notes in that class."

Nordegren earned her psychology degree with a 3.96 GPA and began her speech with the inspirational admonishment "you are what you do, not what you say you'll do." Later she praised fellow graduates with the boast "we didn't just talk about getting a diploma. We walked the walk."

The 38-year-old woods began publicly dating Olympic gold-medal winning skier Lindsey Vonn early last year.
