The WWE has been mulling plans for the upcoming Payback 2014 pay-per-view event on June 1 live from the Allstate Arena in Chicago, and the company has been mulling different scenarios for The Shield and Evolution while the Buried Alive match between WWE World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan and Kane is nearly set in stone.

It has been reported that the WWE wanted Batista to face and lose to Bryan in the title match at the show but "The Animal" refused, leading to the WWE switching its plans and extending the feud between Evolution and The Shield as well as Bryan and Kane.

According to Wrestlingheadlines.com, the WWE has been mulling what to do with The Shield and Evolution at Payback. There have been some talks about The Shield facing Evolution in a six-man tag team rematch from Extreme Rules, but the WWE isn't sure if it wants to run the same exact match two months in a row.

The report indicates that there have also been talks about having members of The Shield and Evolution going at it in separate one-one-one matches. It's not confirmed who would face who, but for example there would be Roman Reigns vs. Batista, Dean Ambrose vs. Randy Orton and Seth Rollins vs. Triple H in one-on-one matches rather than having all six of them in one match again.

The actual pairings remains to be seen, but with rumors of Roman Reigns taking on Triple H at SummerSlam in August, it is unlikely that the two would meet at Payback. Much of the talk at television tapings this week has been what to do with The Shield and Evolution, with nothing decided yet.

The Buried Alive match between Bryan and Kane is almost a lock after Bryan defeated Kane in an Extreme Rules match this past Sunday as their feud is slated to continue. The early reports indicate that Kane will likely lose the match to Bryan and be written off of television for a while before returning to promote WWE Studios movie See No Evil 2, which doesn't have a release date but is expected to come out in October.

There have been talks of Cody Rhodes and Goldust working a short program with Rhodes working as the heel as their breakup has been hinted at on WWE television. There is no word as to whether or not it will turn out to come to a head at Payback or not.

WWE Payback airs live Sunday June 1 from the Allstate Arena in Chicago.
