MMQB.com writer Peter King has released his one and only mock draft for the 2014 NFL draft. Some picks are great and daring, others have some scratching their heads. Let’s look at the mock’s best and worst picks of the first round.

Best Picks:
Houston Texans: Khalil Mack, OLB, Buffalo

King drops the bombshell of the draft in it’s first pick by slating Mack over Clowney for the Texans. I agree with King here as I was reluctant to move Mack from No. 1 overall weeks ago. If this happens it will be the surprise of the draft in only the first few minutes, but it does make a ton of sense. Mack is better suited for the 3-4 and has all the numbers Clowney has minus the national attention.

4. Atlanta Falcons: Jadeveon Clowney, DE, South Carolina
The Falcons luck out and trade up to grab the once in a decade talent in Clowney. The Falcons pass rush becomes a strength instead of a liability over night and they can continue to build a defense around this pick. The Falcons trade with the Browns in this scenario who then select Mike Evans at No. 6.

8. Minnesota Vikings: Aaron Donald. DT, Pittsburgh
The Vikings want a playmaker in the middle of their defense and if Donald was taller he would be in the running for the No. 1 pick. The Vikings reach a little bit based on what the expert rankings are of Donald, but to grab a talent like Donald instead of a reach at quarterback is a huge move.

Questionable Picks:
19. Miami Dolphins: Cyrus Kouandjio, OT, Alabama
The Dolphins need an offensive tackle and in this scenario all the first round prospects are gone. Kouandjio has some injury concerns that have scared many teams away and dropped him into the second or third round, but reports are the Dolphins covet him. If the Dolphins are to reach on a tackle, Morgan Moses would be a better option with less question marks.

24. Cincinnati Bengals: Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, S, Alabama
It’s not that this pick is bad, but it is hard to believe that Clinton-Dix will be available at No. 24. This would be a home run for the Bengals who need a ton of secondary help and Clinton-Dix is a first round talent that brings a lot to the table. Louisville’s Calvin Pryor is more likely to slide than Clinton-Dix at this point.

26. Cleveland Browns: Blake Bortles, QB, Central Florida
Another pick I love, but do not believe it is likely to occur. The Browns would love to grab a playmaker at No. 4 and have a top three quarterback fall to them at No. 26, but Bortles is the one guy who hasn't been rumored to slide this far. Manziel, Carr and Bridgewater are all more likely to make it to No. 26 than Bortles, but maybe King knows something we don’t.
