Tonight at 9:00 p.m. ET, "The Moment" will kick off. This boxing showcase will be headlined by pound-for-pound king Floyd "Money" Mayweather Jr. facing off with Marcos "El Chino" Maidana, but is also chock full of big names on the undercard. This card is a Showtime production and can be live streamed by clicking this link.
Mayweather Jr. appeared all set to face Amir Khan on this date, but Maidana flipped the script by defeated young star Adrien Broner convincingly, sending him to the canvas for the first two times of his career.
Maidana's performance caught Floyd's attention and shunted Khan off to the side-he will be on this event's undercard. "(Maidana) is an extremely skilled fighter who brings knockout danger to the ring. This is a great fight for me and he deserves the opportunity to see if he can do what 45 others have tried to do before him - beat me," Mayweather said.
While Floyd is known for his slick defense, Maidana has a completely opposite style. He has promised to attack Mayweather from the get-go, overwhelming him while throwing nonstop with bad intentions.
"There's no doubt this is going to be a very difficult fight," Maidana said. "There's no doubt that Floyd has very good defensive skills, but I have a great attack, and that's what I'll use. I have to do the same thing I did with Broner. I have go hard from the get go and attack. I know it's going to be more difficult with a man like Floyd Mayweather." PREDICTION: Mayweather Jr. by Unanimous Decision.
The other fights tonight include the aforementioned Khan battling with Luis Collazo, a solid veteran who made the most of a big opportunity by knocking out Victor Ortiz in a cable TV fight aired on Fox Sports 1. PREDICTION: Collazo by KO Rd. 11.
Broner will be in action as well, fighting at 140 lbs. against Carlos Molina. Finally, J'Leon Love will be taking on Marco Antonio Periba. PREDICTIONS: Broner by TKO Rd. 4, J'Leon Love by Unanimous Decision.
