Two clubs in opposite ends of the Premier League table will do battle today in a league match between Manchester United and Sunderland. The first-division clash scheduled for 10 a.m. ET will be held at Old Trafford in Manchester and can be live streamed here free.
For Sunderland, today's match against Manchester United is just the latest chapter in their attempt to write the great escape. Despite sitting at the bottom of the table entering Boxing Day, Sunderland have been able to inch closer to safety and are currently 17th in the table. Manager Gus Poyet remains confident ahead of today's encounter (h/t to Eurosport). "The players are desperate to play again and go on and keep winning," Poyet told reporters.
"The feeling is great. We need to make sure we take into consideration everything we've done, but knowing that there's plenty to do. It's going to be a special game for everybody," he added.
"We know how Manchester United look now under Ryan Giggs. We know they're going to be confident after last weekend, but it's the same for us.
Will Sunderland play confident enough to obtain the result they desperately need? Tell us @SportsWN
Tactical Preview
Player to Watch: With Ryan Giggs at the helm, Danny Welbeck has been pushed to a more suitable role in the club's formation. Playing as the lone striker atop Manchester United's 4-2-3-1 system will serve the 23-year-old well. In 14 league appearances this season, Welbeck has managed to contribute nine goals and will look to reach double-digits this afternoon.
Manchester United's Projected Lineup (4-2-3-1): Gea; Evra, Vidic, Evans, Jones; Carrick, Cleverley; Kagawa, Rooney, Mata; Welbeck
Sunderland's Projected Lineup (4-3-3): Mannone; Alonso, Brown, O'Shea, Vergini; Colback, Cattermole, Larsson; Borini, Wickham, Johnson
