LeBron James entertained thoughts of signing with the L.A. Clippers as a free agent in 2010, but decided against it because of owner Donald Sterling.

Since revelations of Sterling's racist rant where he admonishes a girlfriend not to "bring black people to my games," James has been one of the more vocal NBA players in voicing his opinion the time has come for the league's longest tenured owner to sell his team.

Could Clippers boycott playoff games?

The news about James once perhaps leaning toward being a Clipper comes from music mogul David Geffen, who tells ESPN he, Oprah Winfrey and Larry Ellison are all now interested in teaming together to buy the team from Sterling if the NBA's board of governors proves successful in getting him to put the team on the market in the wake of his extreme views.

"The team deserves a better group of owners who want to win," Geffen told ESPN. "Larry would sooner die than fail. I would sooner die than fail. Larry's a sportsman. We've talked about this for a long time. Between the three of us, we have a good shot."

Larry Johnson wants all black league?

Since NBA commissioner Adam Silver moved to ban Sterling for life and impose a $2.5 million fine on him, Lakers' legend Magic Johnson, hip hop icon Sean "Diddy" Combs and boxing champ Floyd Mayweather are all also rumored to have expressed a preliminary interest in owning the team.
