The Buffalo Bills and Atlanta Falcons are the two teams considered the favorites to swap picks with the Houston Texans for the right to draft South Carolina’s Jadeveon Clowney at No. 1 overall--this much we know. Do the Falcons and Bills have the ammunition to pull off this deal and be able to keep a decent amount of picks to themselves?

According to Bleacher Report, the Bills and Falcons could be having second thoughts about making a move with the Texans because of the price tag and Clowney's few question marks. The price tag is always hefty when it comes to moving around in the Top 10 of the draft; just look at the Redskins who traded a kings ransom for the right to Robert Griffin III. The Redskins are still in debt to the Rams for that trade as they would have held the draft’s No. 2 overall pick, but all is well as Griffin appears to be the real deal.

One unnamed NFL executive who knows the ins and outs of draft pick trading believes its a slipper slope to moving around with such a high asking price.

"The problem is when you are trading up and you already are in the top 10, you are giving up some very valuable picks in subsequent rounds," one high-ranking NFC front-office man said. "A second-round pick from a team drafting in the top 10 is really valuable, almost a first-round pick. So it's hard to give that up.”

"The problem with giving up next year's No. 1 is you wake up the next day kicking yourself because you don't know where that pick will be.”

The Falcons are a far more likely trade partner for the Texans as it makes better sense for both sides. Atlanta would offer the Texans the No. 6 pick and a first round pick next year as opposed to the package of picks the Bills could offer to move down to the less desirable No. 9 overall.

Raiders Drafting Brandin Cooks At No. 5?

The price to pay for a player that isn't Andrew Luck or Peyton Manning is a hard pill to swallow of these teams, but with great risk comes greater reward. Not to be swept under the rug are the issues Clowney could have entering the NFL and if he does bust, everyone on the teams front office and coaching staff is sure to be fired. Clowney’s possible, yet unlikely, off the field work ethic issues could scare a team away all by itself, but if you are trading away a mountain of picks to acquire him it adds a whole new level of pressure.
