Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez returned to the pitch at the weekend. Despite struggling for playing time all season, the 25-year-old made his 150th career appearance for Manchester United. For Hernandez, it was sheer determination that allowed him to achieve to such a remarkable feat (h/t to Manchester United's official website). "I was so proud to join this club, and I was so determined to take this chance that the club had given me," Hernandez said.
"From the very first training session I wanted to show that."
But have Hernandez's chances at Manchester United dissipated?
The Mexican international has long been linked with a summer transfer to Spanish outfit Atletico Madrid. With 47 goals for United in domestic and European competition, Hernandez would serve as an immediate replacement for Diego Costa—this assuming the striker opts for a move out of the Spanish Capital.
Just don't expect Luis Garcia Postigo to optimistically accept the transfer.
While the former club legend respects the talents of Chicharito Hernandez, he doesn't believe in the totality of his game (h/t to Goal). "He's a lethal type. A goalscorer who quite possibly doesn't have the ability to play outside of the area that much," Postigo said.
"The styles of Costa and Hernandez are different. Costa is the strong type that plays from the outside in. He can create goalscoring opportunities on his own," he added.
"It would be a mistake [to think Hernandez could replace him]."
