Talk show queen Oprah Winfrey is blasting Donald Sterling's now confirmed racist rant as a sign of someone with a "plantation mentality."

"Of course I've been following the story," Winfrey told Politico.com on Tuesday. "It feels like a plantation mentality in the 21st century, in 2014, it just doesn't fit. And, I'm waiting to see what they're going to do, because something has to be done."

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver is scheduled to hold a press conference Tuesday afternoon announcing sanctions the league will impose on the L.A. Clippers owner after a video of him merged late last week admonishing a girlfriend "not to bring black people to my games."

Several media outlets have reported NBA league officials have since met with girlfriend V.Stiviano and are now convinced the voice on the tape is authentic and that of Sterling.

Could Clippers boycott NBA playoffs?

Growing speculation is the league will seek to ban the 80-year-old owner from league activities and ultimately force him to sell his team. Sterling has owned the Clippers since 1981 and is the league's longest tenured owner.

Forbes magazine recently reported when Sterling bought the team 33-years ago he paid $12.5 million and it is now valued at $575 million.
