At WrestleMania 30, John Cena vs. Bray Wyatt was billed as a battle for legacy. While John Cena won that match, Bray Wyatt was the real winner as his status in WWE has skyrocketed. With the fans cheering for Wyatt, could WWE finally pull the trigger on a John Cena heel turn in 2014?

Let's look at the reasons for and against a John Cena heel turn.

John Cena Heel Turn Pros

The fans want it: In a recent poll conducted by The Wrestling Observer, 59.3 percent of wrestling fans surveyed were FOR a John Cena heel turn, while 40.9 percent were against the idea.

While that number might not be high enough for WWE to take the chance, I bet that if John Cena ever did turn heel, the number of people who LIKE WATCHING him on Raw every week would actually present an even higher number than 59.3 percent.

The character has become stale and oversaturated: There are only so many ways you can market John Cena as the top babyface in the company and only so many opponents you can give him before storylines get repeated or the character becomes boring to watch. The reason many fans love Bray Wyatt right now is because he is challenging Cena to adapt and finally change things up a little bit after years of plateauing.

At WrestleMania, John Cena should have snapped and turned into the monster that Bray Wyatt wanted him to be, and then after the tone could have been set for a heel turn right then and there. I am hoping that Cena does finally snap at Extreme Rules, and hopefully this will begin a more interesting chapter for the character.

John Cena Heel Turn Cons

Merchandise sales: A recent report indicates that over the past month, John Cena is selling five times more merchandise than anyone else in WWE. From a financial standpoint, it probably does make sense for John Cena to remain a steadfast babyface, but at the same time a Cena heel turn could also open up additional avenues for merch sales with the fans who would appreciate a freshened up character.

Total Divas, Make-A-Wish and other non-wrestling ventures: With John Cena a featured player on Total Divas thanks to his relationship with Nikki Bella and also being the most prolific celebrity wish-granter in Make-A-Wish Foundation history, it is likely these outside ventures that will keep John Cena from turning heel. Cena the person truly believes in his charitable causes and he doesn't seem to like to stray too far from his real-life personality on screen.

Could John Cena and Nikki Bella be next to marry?

Ultimately, John Cena is clearly in charge of his own legacy.

Since that is the case, even if WWE actually did want to pull the trigger on a John Cena heel turn in 2014, would he let them?

My answer is probably not.
