LeBron James free agency to the Philadelphia 76ers? Charles Barkley calls signing a real possibility [VIDEO]

It's too bad these darn NBA playoffs are in the way of the real issue facing the NBA this summer: where LeBron James will play in 2014-15.

The Star-Ledger is reporting that Charles Barkley told radio station 94WIP that the lowly Philadelphia 76ers could be a destination spot for James after the season.

" I love what the Sixers are doing!" Barkley told 94RIP. "You know, I told somebody the other day ... if the Sixers - think about this - if the Sixers could sign LeBron James to go with Michael Carter-Williams, (Nerlens) Noel, and they got like a great pick this year. They'll win the championship in the next five years, maybe twice. They got enough money to sign LeBron James. They got some good young players. Like I said, they're going to have the rookie of the year, I think Noel is gonna be a good player, they're gonna get another good player this year. If they want to sign LeBron James I would bet a million dollars within five years they might win the championship. I'm telling you they would be that good."

The Star-Ledger stated that it has discussed King James in the City of Brotherly Love, and ESPN's Mike Greenburg also has floated the idea.

James and the Heat will attempt to three-peat as NBA champions when the postseason starts this weekend. Yahoo! Sports speculated that the Heat's run could determine James future in Miami, saying that anything less than another title could drive James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh to test the free-agency waters to determine how much money they could command on the open market.

Even if the Heat bring another title, it would seem that the James-Wade-Bosh union has run its course - a little bit short of the "... not five, not six, not seven ..." rings he predicted when he came aboard in Miami.

Each season seems to be a tougher grind for the aging Heat than the one before, and their vulnerability was shown last season when they should've lost to the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Finals if Ray Allen hadn't hit a season-saving shot to send Game 6 into overtime.
