Police have arrested a man attorneys for jailed former NFL vet Aaron Hernandez have described as an "important witness" in his first degree murder case on charges of lying to a federal grand jury investigating an interstate gun trafficking ring also believed to be linked to the one-time New England Patriots tight end.

Oscar Hernandez was taken into custody in Florida on Wednesday on charges of obstruction of justice, witness tampering and lying to a federal grand jury. He is expected to soon be extradited back to Massachusetts to formally face charges.

According to MyFoxBoston.com, Oscar Hernandez is specifically charged with lying to the direct question of if he ever owned a Toyota Camry vehicle that some law enforcement officials speculate may have actually been used for the transportation of various firearms from state to state. If convicted of all charges, Hernandez faces up to 35 years in prison.

In February, lawyers for Aaron Hernandez demanded notes from interviews prosecutors once conducted with Oscar Hernandez. Meanwhile, the 24-year-old former NFL star remains held without bail and relegated to solitary confinement in the execution-style killing of one-time associate Odin Lloyd.
