Today at 1:00 p.m. ET on ABC, the Oklahoma City Thunder (58-21), who are locked into the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference for the postseason will get a good tune up in Indiana against the Pacers (54-26), who are still in a dead heat with Miami for home court throughout the East playoffs. The Pacers have struggled badly down the stretch of the regular season, with a cratering offense witnessing declines from stars Paul George and Roy Hibbert. They are projecting a lack of concern about the seeding however, "As of now it's not in our hands," George said, "and we're perfectly fine with it."
Head coach Frank Vogel echoed his star's confidence. "We're still a good basketball team," Vogel said. "I think we're taking steps to get ready."
A win today vs. Oklahoma City could restore the team's confidence and rhythm, and they might get help from OKC who could be resting stars. "We've struggled against them for the last couple years now, and we just haven't found a way to make it difficult for them," Pacers power forward David West said. "Obviously, Durant is just a matchup problem when he gets going."
Kevin Durant, the NBA's scoring leader and apparent frontrunner for the MVP award, didn't indicate they'd be taking their foot off the gas. He insinuated that point guard Russell Westbrook in particular will be going full throttle.
"He's well rested and he's taking advantage of a lot of matchups," Durant said. "That's what we need from him. He's playing extremely well. He's picking and choosing his spots well. He's playing with a lot of intensity for us."
