Terrell Owens wants to be The Bachelor.

The former NFL star and Pro Bowl receiver tells NESN.com he feels he should be the next person chosen to compete as the frontmen on the long-running, popular ABC reality series.

Owens recently told reporters there hasn't been a black bachelor in the history of the 18-year series and he's ready to break the color barrier.

"I'm prepped to do bigger and better things with my life," said the 40-year-old Owens, who played 15 NFL seasons and once had a 100-yard catch season. "I am looking for a special someone."

As for that little matter of Owens only being weeks divorced, Owens doesn't seem to be too shaken.He and postal worker Rachel Snider were married all of two weeks before bitterly split amid reports of shady behaviour from both sides.

Owens effectively retired from the NFL when the Seattle Seahawks released him before the start of the 2012 season. Currently, he ranks fifth all time with 156 career touchdowns and sixth all time with 1,078 career receptions.

Owens previously starred in his own VH1 reality show entitled The T.O. Show.
