According to the New York Daily News, a bench clearing brawl between the FDNY and NYPD erupted in the middle of the yearly game, which saw New York's Finest rally back to take a victory away from New York's Bravest with an 8-5 final once things settled down at ice level.

With the game tied at 3-3 in the second period and things getting heated on the ice, tempers got the better of the players as the gloves were dropped and haymakers were thrown. The scene, which resembled something these emergency workers would usually break up, was captured by fans in attendance.

Players on both sides paired off into fights during the melee, including a bloodied and battered cop.

Fans turned against the NYPD, as chants of "PD Sucks" echoed throughout the Nassau Coliseum, home of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders.

In the end, it was the police who had the last laugh after rallying for an 8-5 victory in what just may prove to be the most exciting game to take place on Coliseum ice this season.
