We are a week away from The Masters and the field is slimming little by little. We know Tiger Woods won't be making an appearance due to injury, but what of no. 5 in the world Phil Mickelson’s lingering pains?

Mickelson has been plagued by back and oblique issues this season which has forced him to miss some time. Phil had to withdraw from the Texas Open in the third round, but showed no signs that the back was hurting him in the second. He spoke highly go the injury and said he was feeling great with his speed returning.
Approaching April, Tiger Woods & Phil Mickelson have combined for 0 top-10s on the PGA Tour in 2014 and 3 W/Ds. Welcome to the twilight zone — Will Gray (@WillGrayGC) March 29, 2014
The next day his back tightened up on him and he was forced to withdraw. Whether Phil pulled his oblique or there is something going on in his back remains to be seen. Stuart Appleby played with Mickelson during his third round withdraw and said that Phil was complaining about something being wrong with his back.
"I'm going to go back to San Diego for a couple of days and have a doctor take a look at it, but there's really not much you can do for a pulled muscle. I hope I'll be OK to play the Shell in Houston, but I just don't know."
Mickelson will not compete in the Shell and is questionable for The Masters along with, fellow top five golfer, Jason Day. Mickelson has little more than a week to get himself in playing shape and with the back/oblique injury topped off with his psoriatic arthritis, Phil could be facing an uphill battle.
